This DIY no-sew project couldn't have come at a better time. Having recently moved into a new home with double the amount of windows I'm in serious need of curtains. However, I'm not exactly looking to shell out hundreds of dollars for traditional curtains.

Of course there's the option of actually sewing my own curtains but there's a big fat problem with that — I don't know how to sew! The home economics class I took back in middle school has completely escaped my mind and I can't justify spending the money on a sewing machine without actually knowing how to use it. So, this no-sew tutorial is quite perfect.
Brooklyn Limestone has provided ample instructions for how to use grommets to create beautiful curtains. Using fabric glue, grommets and a little measuring you'll be well on your way to easy and beautiful curtains.

I've done a similar project but instead of curtains I made a couple of table runners. http://www.oursemiorganiclife.com/2011/04/diy-no-sew-table-runner.html
They'd look better lined, (I think to myself, contemplating my own similar project.)
Nice idea! But it still looks like you need to hem the bottom edge... Maybe if you recut the drapes and lowered the curtain rod slightly it might work out better.
I agree... they need to be shortened slightly so they will hang properly and make nice folds. It would also help if the rod was mounted slightly further out, so the folds don't rub against the wall or window frame. But otherwise lovely!
I like those curtains. Someone mentioned hemming the bottom edge. If you decide to do that, you might want to insert a string of tiny lead weights which will help maintain the curtains down, although I have to say, I like the wavey look. Good job and thanks for the tip.
I made curtains using Stitch Witchery hemming tape. I had a terrible time with the grommet kit so I ended up using clip rings per the suggestion on Young House Love. Much easier!
If you don't have the string of weights you can also use pennies!
I second the clip rings and think that it is an even cleaner look with much less work.
I second clip rings! Another suggestion is using tablecloths, bedcloths and wall tapestries because they are already hemmed and have the right weight. I've scored great patterns at Target.
These are hemmed.
Agree that the curtains themselves would look better lined but I wanted a little light coming in from behind the fabric (and I didn't want to double my work) so this works for me.
cool idea!
What a lovely room! I hope to make some grommet drapes soon. Thanks for the tutorial. :)
love!
Just to play devil's advocate... you can get a decent sewing machine for as little as $89 and it's totally easy to sew curtains. They'll hold up better and last longer. But that's only worth it if you plan on doing lots of these projects.
If these are the only no-sew curtains you plan to do, then yeah, sewing machine totes not worth it.
