It’s not always easy to find good-looking products for organizing paperwork and when we do, they often come with a hefty price tag. These crates are a great example of how a little bit of resourcefulness can produce boutique-worthy containers for less than $5 each!
Designed and built by Kit from DIY Diva, the crates were assembled using wood from old pallets. The vintage labels were made using a photocopy of a design transferred onto the crate with a blender marker. File folders hang on bars made from aluminum strips that slide into notched grooves at each end of the crate.
(Note: we love that this project uses existing material that would otherwise be landfill-bound, but if you’re concerned about potential chemicals that some pallets contain, these crates could easily be made from other types of wood scraps.)
