DIY Painted Rug Adds Non-Permanent Splash of Color

Making a commitment to add color to a room's walls can be scary for some. For others, it's not practical if they live in a rental or are planning a move. So adding a big bold rug in an otherwise plain Jane white room can do wonders for adding a non-committal hit of color. We especially love that this particular rug was a DIY project that cost a mere $40.

Holly of Adventures of an Almost 40 Year Old Intern takes us through, step-by-step, her process in turning an otherwise very neutral and inexpensive IKEA rug into an warm, eye-catching room feature. She shows us that in the right hands, a little painters tape can make a lot of magic happen.
