We wish we could have included this pink XBox controller in our pinked-out home tech "Technicolor" roundup. But it's not available in stores, just a well-done DIY project from somebody wanting to get a little summer color in their lives this fall...

What started as a gift for his girly gamer girlfriend has become an inspiration for us. Flickr user 4apples disassembled a purchased XBox controller and did a bang up job painting some accent pieces with a bright pink spray paint before putting it back together and wrapping it up for his girl.

If you're thinking about taking on a project like this, 4apples recommends that you first sand the pieces down with 1000 grit sandpaper. Then, coat the painted pieces with two coats of primer, two coats of paint (He recommends Krylon Fusion or Duplicolor) and one coat of varnish.

We love how it's not too Hello-Kitty-all-over-girly like the pink controller you can buy from Microsoft. Gamer girls have a bit of an edge and want a little less baby pink, don't we? Now lets get started on a hot pink Guitar Hero guitar, shall we?
