We love having parties at our home. It can be a small dinner, birthday celebration that involves fried chicken and biscuit taste-off, or a casual movie night. Email or Evite is the route that we usually choose to invite our friends, but this might change. The simple and gorgeous invitations by Bryn are motivating us to do something special next time. She made them herself for her own birthday party using a white paper napkin folded like a card. She sketched the restaurant and the date on the front and all the details were on the inside. These turned out to be a hit amongst her friends.
We came across her DIY invitations on the 100 Layer Cake blog. The black and white drawing with the red balloons looks great. Making a large quantity might be more time consuming than an Evite invitation, but what a creative idea. The drawing could be much simpler and still have a similar effect. It will definitely make your next event that much more special.

this is amazing. so talented! which means you actually have to have talent to do something like this. i would make one or two prettily and the rest would look sad as i tried to finish them before i was 80....

This is a lovely idea for any event which requires an invitation.
Oh, pretty! I always wish I had nice writing...hers looks so effortless and nice....if I want mine to look nice, it takes a lot of effort and doesn't flow very well, too boxy. Ho hum...
@Erin I used to worry that mine was bad, but people love getting handwritten stuff. Real notes. Just make it legible and cut yourself some slack. (Mine's a disaster but I've come to terms with it)

I did hand written invitations, with a simple watercolor painting on the front, for a birthday party I had a couple years ago. Much more time-consuming than I thought when I started the project, but they definitely were well-received!
Wow, I can't imagine how long that took. I hope she only has four friends.
But really, those are cool, and I wish I were a tad more artistically inclined like that.
I'd probably end up with more mess up/throw away napkins, but its an awesome idea.
