DIY Patio Grill Table Made from Skateboard Decks

What do you get when you mix a charcoal grill and a pair of skateboards? A crazy amazing patio table, that's what. In small spaces, you have to get creative, so building a grill right into the center of your balcony coffee table saves space and time, while still giving you a spot to set down your beer.

As part of Home Depot's Patio Style Challenge, Ryan Lange and Emily Belden of Handmade America revamped their Chicago balcony. They managed to fit an herb garden and seating for four in the tiny space, but the crown jewel has to be that ultra-cool skate deck table, complete with a built-in Smokey Joe charcoal grill.

To save on space, we welded steel legs to two old skateboard decks and cut a hole in the top to custom fit the grill so it would slide right into the middle. Whether we are using it to grill burgers, roast marshmallows, or keep warm, the best part of the table is that there is still room for a glass of wine on the side of it. Cheers to that.
