If you forget to pick up a postcard on your trip or if you just want to send a personalized note to a friend, try making your own postcard. All you need to print your own postcard is a great photo, a sheet of card stock, and a printer. Oh, and of course, 28 cents postage.
According to the postal service website, a postcard must be a minimum of 3 ½” x 5” and maximum of 4 ¼” x 6”. Print an appropriately sized image on one side of heavy cardstock then cut it out. On the back of the card, be sure to leave the right half for the address and postage. Write your message on the left half of the back of the card.
Want to score points with your romantic interest? Print a photo of the two of you, write a cutesy message and mail it. Even if you live together, your paramour will be tickled to get a personalized love note in the mail.

White Enamel Flatwa...
I have an old boyfriend who used to send me photo/postcards. Love.
there is also an iphone app that you can snap a picture and write a message. they print and send it for you. fun!
If you love postcards, go to Http://www.postcrossing.com!!!! I'm ADDICTED to the website! Coolest postcard I've gotten so far was from Namibia!
Yes, you can make a postcard out of anything. My brother went through a phase of sending beermats as postcards.
Ooohhhh. great idea! I have one niece and six nephews who adore getting mail, and I don't live close to them. Now I'll print out photos of us together and send them all some mail!
There are also premade postcard backs that you can buy (not as hip, but quick) at camera shops and drugstores with photo printing counters. They are properly sized, have an adhesive backing, and the lines printed so you know where to put your note and where to address the card. I know, sounds like a stupid thing to buy, but it made it super easy to make postcards from the "free" second set of prints you use to get from processing rolls of film.
What a brilliant website Zhahira! Thank you for sharing!
