White plates are versatile. We all know that. (Hey, owning 160 white plates will save you money. Believe it!) But they can also be quite boring. If you've grown tired of the plain jane white, why not update it by painting your own pattern with a porcelain paint pen? It'll cost you $5 and some artistic skill, but the result is unique and completely personal.

We spotted this over at A Merry Mishap and had to pass it along. Most porcelain paint pens are water based and non-toxic,. Just bake your design in the oven for 30-35 minutes to set the design. Once baked, the finish is is permanent, microwave and dishwasher safe, and glossy like true glazed ceramics.
