080610_diywirelesssalad_bowl.jpgYep, those are IKEA birch salad bowls. DIYer Charles Visnic proves once again that one can get some sweet lookin' speakers without breaking the bank. All you need is a little know-how and an adventurous attitude that allows you to break open perfectly good components for re-purposing.

080610_diywirelesssalad_bowl3.jpgWell, we gotta admit, those Rocketfish speakers aren't the easiest on the eyes. We can see why Charles had the desire to tear them apart.

080610_diywirelesssalad_bowl2.jpgThe DIY hack takes two IKEA salad bowls with drilled holes for the speakers, attached together using some clips (for battery replacement), and hung on a wire for an optimal listening experience.

080610_diywirelesssalad_bowl4.jpgAlthough the closer we look at it, the more it looks like a Deathstar. But maybe that's what he was going for all along.

Follow Charles' DIY process over here. He says a complete walkthrough on his building process will go up in a few days, so keep your eyes peeled if you want to create your own set of Deathstar wireless speakers!
