Yep, those are IKEA birch salad bowls. DIYer Charles Visnic proves once again that one can get some sweet lookin' speakers without breaking the bank. All you need is a little know-how and an adventurous attitude that allows you to break open perfectly good components for re-purposing.

Well, we gotta admit, those Rocketfish speakers aren't the easiest on the eyes. We can see why Charles had the desire to tear them apart.


The DIY hack takes two IKEA salad bowls with drilled holes for the speakers, attached together using some clips (for battery replacement), and hung on a wire for an optimal listening experience.

Although the closer we look at it, the more it looks like a Deathstar. But maybe that's what he was going for all along.
