Nothing says October like a pumpkin full of beer! The folks at Celebrations recently adapted a summery watermelon keg idea for the fall season, and gave it a test run. The verdict? A smashing success!
You just need a pumpkin, some tools for hollowing it out, and a spigot you can use for the tap at the bottom. The basics are similar to carving a jack o' lantern, so just call it a practice run… or better yet, perfect your technique so you can gather around the pumpkin keg for a pumpkin carving party this month! See the step by step instructions, including a great how-to video, at Celebrations.

Shaw's Original Fir...
Love it.
genius! i'm definitley giving this a go.
!!!!! This is Awesome!!!!!
AWESOME! Where would one find an appropriate spigot???
Beer or other fizzy drinks might go flat during the course of the party. What about something seasonal like cider?
Big DUH on my part...I now see there's a link attached for a spigot purchase. I wonder where one could be purchased locally instead of having to order one over the net????
a homebrew shop will do them.
This will be happening in Brooklyn!
With some sort of butterbeer for our school's pumpkin fest party...? Would be a blast!
I was thinking the same thing! Who wants flat beer?
Mead!
This made me smile.
If the beer ends up warm and flat, you aren't drinking it fast enough. :-)
Adorable! Although I'd be more inclined to put some kind of a cocktail in it rather than beer, which doesn't stay cold long and isn't too tasty iced.
spiced chai might be good too, for the non-alchohol drinkers.
Heck, pumpkins are cheap--have two! One with spiced chai for the non-alcohol drinkers, one with spiked chai for the non-non-alcohol drinkers ;>
Actually, this might be the perfect vehicle for my favorite fall party drink. One part Pear Brandy ( Think the eau de vie variety, not your granddad's secret stash kind), 3 parts apple cider. Throw in a couple cinnamon sticks. I call it the Johnny Pearbanger, and it is love.
I always ask myself what would martha stewart do to improve this...and she would say "use a shiny silver/stainless steel spigot to bring glamor to the pumpkin, hand paint the pumpkins stem a lovely metallic, and place the pumpkin on an antique silver or milk glass cake stand"
Yep, doing this for the Halloween party. Pumpkin Punch? With Great Lakes Pumpkin Seasonal Spirit? BOO YEAH
