One of my favorite parts of the holiday season, December in particular, is the countdown to Christmas, the advent calendar! I have such fond memories of opening our advent calendars as a small child — I can't even imagine the joy this advent tree would have brought!
Katie from A Beautiful Mess nailed together some scrap wood to make a simple, rustic Christmas tree. Then she added a little treat for each day, stuck to the "branches" with a pushpin. This neat little tree is easily customizable — you could alternate big and small pieces of wood, nail some of them crooked, paint the whole thing a festive color, or wrap with lights!

What a cute idea! Looks simple to put together too.
Nice for a country-style environment.
