I love this cubby on wheels. This is a hip, mobile storage solution that seems easy to make and could potentially do some mean freestyling. Check it out.
Using a basic wooden crate, recycled skateboard trucks from an old skateboard, and a few coats of paint, the folks at Project Little Smith created a stylish and practical storage unit that's perfect for kids, but could also be customized to work for a more mature set as well.
I really like how this cubby can serve as a shelf but also allows for easy transport of books, toys, and so on from room to room. And I really really like how inexpensive it was to make compared to similar ready-made products.
Basic wooden crate transformed into cool bookshelf with a few coats of white paint.
Recycled skate trucks were cleaned and attached to wooden crate to create mobility.

This is incredible!
That's sooo great! If I had a kid that would be on my "to do" list for sure!
Maybe I'm a prude, but it seems a bit dangerous to put a bookshelf on wheels in a kid's room. I just know that if I were a little kid with this in my room, I'd just try riding in/on it all over the place. Probably I'd try standing on it, and inevitably, accidents would happen...
melissakay, my thoughts exactly. But it does look cool. I'll just look at it on the computer and not in real life~
I have to agree with the possible safety issues but again, it can be made to fit into any setting, and would most likely become one of those pieces that your friends love and praise you for.
Love it! And I can think of several other uses off the top of my head. (besides, a lil discipline will cure the kid issues). Where's your imagination?
my friends know my kids (especially my rambunctious 4yo) and would think I was nuts to build it! :)
Great for adults who have small spaces. But I too would ride this if I was a kid. :o)
forget kids, this is something I as an adult want badly!!!
Looks good & six of these together would make a good coffee table/storage. piece.
LOL! I KNEW there would be the "Pebbles as Tripping Hazards" crew coming by to put the skids on FUN! The way I see it, the "PATH" people were NEVER kids!!! How on earth can this little book cubby on wheels be ANY different than any piece of furniture on wheels?!? I suppose my fridge, which has wheels so I can move it easily to clean behind it, would be considered "dangerous"?! My car! My garden cart! My home made from old wooden crates mini coffee tables! My bed frame! My wheel barrow! My laundry cart!... My goodness! My whole world is DANGEROUS! Holy smokes I hope they don't use this cubby on wheels in a room that has a ceiling fan!
By the way, I think this book cubby is cute & totally makes sense. Now I'm going to have a bath to cool off. Unless anyone objects on grounds that a bath has water which is a drowning hazard!
Thanks for featuring our cubby! It's worked out really great for us. I have seen some safety-concerned comments floating around Pinterest as well, but we haven't had any issues in the year that it has lived in my son's nursery. He loves having easy access to his board books and it actually rolls slower and with more effort than his 'push cart' toy so it doesn't take off across the room or anything :)

THIS IS AWESOME! My daughter would have LOVED this when she was little. I want one now! @Ecuadoriana1, YOU ARE HILARIOUS!!! I can't agree with you more!
Love this, oh the options are endless.
