• The talented Lauren Liess of Pure Style Home is always impressing us with her DIY spirit and incredible eye for seeing the potential in the ordinary. She created a canopy for her baby's room using drop cloth, a stencil, and leftover wall paint. The pattern brings a heavy dose of sophistication to a room that's usually known for its saccharin qualities.
• White pillows have their place, but I'm hungry for a little pattern in my pillows and these easy spray paint and stencil paint is a great quick fix. For more details check out Country Living's article.
• Plain window treatments, from roller shades to panels, are some of the best pieces to update. For instructions for window panels check out Homemade by Jill's blog, and for instructions on creating stenciled roller shades, check out Martha Stewart's site.
• Lampshades are another item that can stand a little punch without appearing overdone. Woman's Day has simple, straight forward instructions for achieving the look.

White Enamel Four-P...
i love this! what a great way to spruce up your things.
i want to know the same thing! what are good sources for stencils? etsy has some good ones but most are the same and pretty standard..need new ideas!!
I've seen lots of them at Michaels and Hobby Lobby. And they sell plastic (?) sheet that you can cut with an exacto knife, and create your own stencils (although I'd never DIY anything super elaborate)
There's always the Stencil Library.

They're not cheap, by any means, but they have the most enormous selection of large, interior design size stencils.
So puuuurty...
The Stencil Library put out an amazing book a few years ago - The Stencilled Home - which has some amazing projects. (IIRC, the photo on the cover is showing stencilled gold on silk fabric.)
The table of contents lists the projects by the design of the room: "Chinoiserie bedroom; campaign room; blue and white dining room; Raj room; honeysuckle kitchen; nautical bathroom; panelled room; Parisian chic; Grecian hallway; Gustavian room; Arabian nights; Robert Adam study; contemporary bathroom."
There is a big stencil convention and expo on in Portland, Oregon next month. Stencil Library will travel from the UK and many other stencil companies will be there from the US. see www.decorativeartisans.org Thank you Karen and nightangelrose for comments about The Stencil Library, I work there and write their blog. Lots of stencil related stuff from stencilers all over the world.
