DIY Style on a Budget: How To Make a Tufted Velvet Headboard for $350

Glitter & Goat Cheese

Ever stumbled on a gorgeous but way out of reach piece for your home? You just gotta have it — even if that means trying to make it yourself. And nothing, not even a difficult technique or hard-to-work-with fabric, will stop you. Case in point: This stunning headboard, diamond-tufted in blue velvet fabric, that was built completely from scratch.

Thankfully the maker behind this headboard, Stephanie of Glitter and Goat Cheese, documented the entire process for inspired DIYers to follow along. It's not a quick afternoon project by any means — there's major planning and building involved, and you'll probably need a partner to tackle it all. But the results are stunning, and in the end, quite a bargain.

Similar velvet headboards (like this one from Neiman Marcus) are upwards of $1000. But Stephanie's DIY version came in just under $350!
