DIYers among us are going to "squee!" with delight. Todd Oldham has paired up with Target to create a line of kids' craft products with a modern twist.
The line is inspired by Oldham's book Kid Made Modern (Ammo Books, 2009). It includes Charley Harper paint-by-numbers, wood jewelry kits, multi-tone crayons shaped like gems, and more. As you would expect at Target, everything is affordably priced, with nothing over $20. The biggest problem will be waiting: the line doesn't launch until May 20.
We'll see you at Target on May 20. I'll be the one with a sample of everything.
(Even better, we're talking with Todd soon about the collaboration so check back in for that.)

Oh, oh, oh! Can't wait!
Hey, paint by numbers that actually look COOL! Never thought it could happen!
COOL! I wonder what the paint by colors even looks like plain? Can't wait.
I predict these will sell out fast.
I have loved Todd's eye for style since I first learned about him on MTV many many years ago. I can't wait to see what great stuff he's come up with for Target, I just hope the stock supply hangs around long enough for me to check it all out!
Odd - those bird images are not by Tod Oldham. They are by Charlie Harper, at least the top one is.
Put a bird on it!
Yay! I have been looking for paint by number sets for YEARS that lead to a painting I'd actually want to keep when finished.
They mention that the images are Charlie Harper (Oldham collaborated with Harper and edited a monograph of his work a few years back). I love Kid Made Modern.
I hope I can get two of these -- one for me and one for my 6-year-old nephew. Finally, art even I can make!
Why waste these on kids? I'm going to buy these for myself. I like the images and the color palette.
I am going to totally buy this stuff for myself! Todd Oldham is my absolute FAVORITE designer; super cool that he's doing this!
The gem crayons are really cool ... saw them in a magazine somewhere.
Has anyone come across these? I haven't seen any at my local Target. Sigh.
