I'm currently exploring the idea of appropriating outdoor gear for the home, like this portable dishwasher I came across this week. Even though these items are designed for the outdoors, I find them particularly appealing because they're all about living with less: less shelter, less water, less food. I also find them very versatile: in the case of this DIY foldable stool, it can easily be adapted for a small living space, for painting in the park, or for bringing to the beach. (Not to mention that with a few simple materials, you can make it yourself! See the full tutorial by checking out the link after the jump.)
I also really dig the hinge that makes it fold up. Check out Design Sponge for the full tutorial!
