Have your kids mastered the Painted Sticks? Have they successfully cultivated a Tin Can Forest? Are they still hungry for another project that somehow involve branches, something maybe a little more involved or challenging? Or maybe they were overzealous in their stick gathering and have a bunch of extra ones waiting in the wings. Either way, if your child cannot get enough of the great outdoors and wants to bring a little bit of it inside, then a homemade twig lamp may be the perfect solution.
As you can see by the pictures, there are a few ways to go about creating a twig lamp. ReadyMade's version (image 1) is somewhat involved and has a definite modern, free-flowing feel to it. The Better Homes and Gardens version (image 2) is more straightforward in construction and traditional in design. While both sites give step by step instructions, neither supplies pictures to go with each step, so consider yourself duly warned. They both require some basic wiring, but your local hardware store guy or gal should be able to help you out if you get stuck.
