Window boxes are a nice way to add some architectural interest and maintain a small bit of garden when space is tight. Traditional window boxes are just that, boxes. But thinking outside of the box allows for a whole new way to display your favorite flowers.
The DIY experts at The Family Handyman have designed this fresh and simple way to display your plants, pots and all. One advantage is it will not rot like traditional window boxes tend to do over time. Another is how easy it is to build. To make it even simpler, you can replace the homemade brackets with sturdy metal ones, spray-painted an interesting exterior paint color. You can have this built and ready for the kids' paintbrushes in an afternoon. After that, all you need to do is stop and smell the flowers. Step-by-step instructions can be found here.
