Remember those wood-burning kits you used as a child? They're back — and this time they're being used to personalize not only projects from wood shop class, but home accessories like wooden clocks and spoons. Here's how you can apply the trend of pyrography in your own home.

Pyrography (the art of decorating wood with burn marks) can be as simple or elaborate as you make it to be — but this project from Etsy is a good introduction if you've never tried wood burning, or feel a little rusty from your Scout days.

Find an unfinished wood cutting board (or other wood surface of your choosing) and use a solid point burner to singe your own design on it. This is a great way to accent a basic piece or update an older one.
