Shopping for curtains and blinds — especially for small windows is one of my absolute least favorite things to do. I typically have an exact style in mind and I'm often disappointed at the lack luster findings at local stores.
There's really no need to express to you just how excited I was to come across this fantastically easy DIY curtain project. It doesn't get much more stylishly simple that converting a wool blanket into a chic window covering.
Matt Pierce from Wood&Faulk devised this fun and fresh DIY project and it surprisingly doesn't have that many steps. With just a few hours, a few bucks and a little patience — you're well on your way to having your very own wool blanket curtain!

Nice, reminds me of glamping.
Looks great, but I imagine rolling it up to be a bit of a chore.
very chic
That is pretty cool. It would work with other materials as well. I'll have to keep that in mind if we replace our blinds. I couldn't find anything I liked for our kitchen windows, didn't want a full blind, don't like cafe curtains, so we made a window screen out of a florescent ceiling light cover that we put a wooden frame around. It only goes up about 2/3rds of the way and still lets a nice glow in without being able to see through it.
Love it! I have patchwork recycled wool sweater curtains that are looped over a thick branch and every day I have to put them up and take them down off of hooks but because I LOVE looking at them I don't mind the process at all. So his little bit of rolling seems a breeze. Way cool!!
I bet this blocks a ton of light and is nice and warm for those of us with older windows if you made them nice and snug all the way to the edge of the frames to keep drafts out too. Totally doing this in the bedrooms!
This does work great. When I did it in my kids room (with fleece super cheap washable) I didn't leave enough space for air flow. Can you say mildew! I now know to do this and wipe the windows and frames down with white vinegar once in a while. Just my 2 cents;)
Thank you AT! I have a Pendleton Mills store near me and they were advertising blanket scraps. I kept wondering what I could make with them. Now I know. :o)
This is a pretty sweet project. I might have to do this.
These would be so perfect for our crappy little windows in our basement. I've been trying to find a good way to insulate them for the coming winter, and this might just do it for me!
I like this idea for my bedroom, but I think the snaps would be a chore. Any ideas from the hivemind about other ways to secure it?
Snaps are E-Z-P-Z!
