the front and side walls of my living room I have Sherwin Williams' "Wool Skein", on the large back living room wall I have Sherwin Williams' "Barcelona Beige," and I want to transition the hall into "Contented". I wanted to carry Barcelona Beige down the back living room wall to the corner of the hall, and use Contented on the opposite hallway wall. I don't know how to paint the arch — specifically underneath the arch to tie into the other color:

For all you Anthropologie lovers out there, we have a treat for you today: namely, a tutorial on how to create your own version of Anthro's Ascension lamp. If you love the look, but don't have $2,800, then follow the link to the next step. Need to think about that choice a little bit? I didn't think so.
Here's a unique way to put a laser printer to use beyond printing out TPS reports, Peter. Reddit user jmsndrnkr and his brother put their carpentry skills to work, assembling handsome all-wood coffee tables, and then embellished the tabletops with photographs transposed using large format laser printer printouts!
MoreTo my mind there are two basic types of 'Before and Afters': the jaw droppers that leave you amazed at the utter transformation of a thing or place and the less dramatic, but no less inspiring ones that show a vast improvement to something with minimal expense of time and money. The latter is the case with this dated dresser repainted in springy colors as an appealing addition to Lynne and Darren's guest bedroom where they host their 2-year-old grandson, Nicholas.

Have you heard about the cup trick? You can amplify your built-in-iPhone-speaker's volume by resting it in a dry glass cup. It's called a "passive speaker," and it works kind of the same way that the hollow body of a guitar or violin helps to amplify the sound made by the strings. Q: I'm pondering a kitchen remodel. I love the way IKEA cabinets look in the store and in photos, but I'm curious to know how Apartment Therapy readers feel about their IKEA kitchen cabinetry. Does it hold up? Are there any bugs? Do you regret not buying more traditional cabinetry? Any advice or tips you can share are appreciated.
I own a pair of Bertoia side chairs, and they are lovely to look upon. But as beautiful as they may be, comfort-wise they leave a little something to be desired. (My friends have dubbed them the 'waffle-butt chairs,' for obvious reasons.) You can purchase covers for the chairs, but a little searching online revealed that these would set me back about 400 bucks a pop. So I decided to try out a more economical, and much more adorable, solution.

Q: I found these two chairs online for $50.00. I haven't bought them yet, but I think they may be mid century Conant Ball Chairs. I tried doing some research and can't find confirmation that this is by Conant Ball, though. Does anyone know the maker? Also, they have this fraternity-style emblem on them in black paint. I'm afraid it will be difficult to remove the paint. Any thoughts? Are they worth the work? I love the style, so I'm thinking I may just go for it. Thanks for the help!
