Q: I'm at a loss. I ordered a table from Etsy (photo below) and am looking for chairs to match. I found these on Craiglist for $0 for the set, a super deal but am not sure if they "flow" but am sure they won't last on Craigslist very long! Help!

I'd paint the four (I'd opt for a funky color but also think white would complement the table nicley) , place two of each on the long sides, then get another set of two matching chairs of a different style to put at either end of the table.
So in other words, yes! :)

Go for it! You can easily paint/reupholster the chairs later.
They wouldn't be my first choice. But I think if you painted or re-stained them, and maybe even changed the upholstery, they could work pretty well.
Since they're free, you really have nothing to lose, other than the time/effort to go get them. I say go for it... and if you end up hating them, you can always put them back up on Craigslist once you've found something better.
I say paint the chairs and go for it! I like DipDipDive's idea of a different set of two matching chairs at either end of the table.
Free goes with everything! Looks like the seats are really easy to reupholster with just about anything. you could paint all chairs one color, or a mix of colors, depending on your vibe. Looks like a great craigslist find; I'm jealous - I've been looking for something similar and am willing to pay more than $0 for it! Enjoy your good fortune. Oh -- just make sure the height of the chairs works with the height of the table.
Ditto. Paint'em. I don't know about white... depends on your home's color scheme, I think. Looks like reupholstery would be a cinch with a staple gun and some fabric remnants.
Pass on it, more trouble than they're worth to make them match.
I agree -- grab them and paint them a color that complements the table. I don't know what the rest of your place looks like but I think red painted chairs would look great with that table. Best of luck!
Here's a rule to live by: If you like it/them, they'll work. It's your house. Even if, down the road, you decide you "shouldn't" have bought them, that's part of decorating. Even big-time designers have that happen. Be brave!
I say go for it! But I'd paint them - black would give it a nice traditional Americana sort of feel with that rustic table - which is totally fabulous by the way.
They're free! You can totally make them work. A coat of paint and some new seat covers is all you need.
Love the Table. Love the Chairs. It would take some work for me to love them together.
Personally, I think you should pass on them and let someone who could use them the way they are get their hands on them. Besides, you don't love them, you're only considering it because they're free. Wait until you find the chairs you had in mind when you bought that table.
In my humble opinion. Good Luck
This is a great FREE CL score! I hope they are still available! They are a nice, classic style and will go with anything. They do need to be painted, some fabulous color... or colors. Each one could be a different color, or two and two to match. Those seats will pop right off for recovering in a great fabric. With the seats off, you could even spray paint these. Montana spray paints, found in art stores, come in a zillion brilliant colors. Many more colors than the box stores. Have fun!
Paint for sure... A really good satin enamel in a 'stone' or 'buff' sort of color, with a really earthy, natural toned fabric, to pic up on the personality of the table. GREAT FIND
I agree with those who have suggested you paint the chairs in funky, bold colors. Something crazy, patterned, bold and bright that purposely don't match the table will complement it perfectly.
I think it will be hard for you to find something that perfectly matches the wood of your table anyways.
I agree with DipDipDive... looks to me like your (excellent) table's wood has so much character, you might want to paint the chairs something totally different (blue, white, coral..) so it doesn't remain brown and end up clashing with the table.
Chairs with high back support and zero lower back support are uncomfortable. Don't get them.
I say give them a GOOD cleaning...set them up (as is) with the new table. YOU have to see how it feels to you. No one on this site really can tell you what works best in your home. Try it..you might love it and if you don't try something else until you do.
Trust your instincts.
NO. they do not go with that table at all.
ORRRR you could just do a darker varnish on the table itself.
As is, they don't work, but if painted they might. Free stuff doesn't last long on Craigslist, snag 'em and you can always relist them if you change your mind.
Tell us about the table and where on Etsy you found it. I love it.
theyre free..... just get them and if you end up not likgin them SELL them for MONEY
I say you re-upholster the chairs in a beautiful fabric and then re paint them. in addition, you could probably get a bench for one side of the table so that it ties the entire set together.
It seems as though it would be easier to paint the table. In that case an espresso color might be nice with the chairs. The chairs - to sand/paint and reupholster? Big job.
Love the chairs...why are they being given away for free??
But I do agree that they don't really match.
Please, please don't paint the table!
Oh, don't paint that table, please please please. Give it to me!
I would pass on the chairs. Not contrasting enough to be interesting with the table, although maybe I'm just missing the vision. I would love that table with really modern chairs, with some chrome or steel in 'em.
I'd look for mismatched rustic-y farmhouse vintage chairs to go with that table, or new sleek contemporary chairs.
i love your table! not a big fan of the chairs. but, yup, paint it or re-upholster.
I really like the table. Why don't you just sand down the chairs to give them an equally worn look.
Yes! they're free! And you can have a lot of fun furbishing them up, as the other commenters suggest, to go better with the table. A new finish on the wood and some new seat upholstery and you won't even recognize them.
Are you people serious? The chairs I can take. The table on the other hand seems, to me, to be the ugly duckling. Clean up the chair legs and maybe invite the table to dinner. Maybe.
My home looks so much nice now that I don't jump on every free piece of furniture. Don't get me wrong - I still have a ton of free stuff, I'm just a lot more selective about what I take. The right chairs will come along and these just don't seem like it. Your table, however, is fantastic.
The chairs look kind of short in stature, and I think taller chairs would look great with your table.
At first glance they don't look right proportionally. But it could be the camera angle. If you can fit 2 of those chairs on each side of that table then I think you could make it work PROVIDED that you paint and reupholster the chairs. Preferably glossy white. Still, even as I say that I have doubts about matching those very deco-style chairs with that very rustic table. I'm definitely on the fence on this one.
I would paint them a fun colour like yellow (depending on your decor) which I think would like good and then when you do eventually find the perfect chairs for your table, it's not like a made a big investment
I love the chairs, but don't think they go with the table. I'd pass on them and let someone who wants them as they are take them. It would be a shame to paint the chairs as they are so beautiful right now.
Don't listen to the naysayers. A "farmy" table and modern chairs are all the rage. Snag them now! Paint them white, viola, you have a beautiful, AT-worthy dining set.
From what I can tell, I have the exact same chairs, in mint condition, from my grandmother's teak dining room set. If they are the same chairs, then the seats are leather and the wood is teak. To paint them would be a total scandal, I think. I'd take the chairs and get a better table, frankly. And what a great find! If you don't want them, I'll take them!
While you were thinking about it, I already got 'em.
First rule of craigslist: be the firstest with the mostest. My replies always say: flexible schedule/appropriate transportation/courteous buyer.
