Do You Decorate If You Won't Be Home for the Holidays?

When it comes to holiday decorating, one of the hardest decisions can sometimes be whether or not to make the effort if you are going to be traveling for the season. It's one thing if you're going to be away for just a couple of days, but what if your vacation spans a week or two? If you know you won't be home to enjoy them, do you put up your decorations?

I always put up my tree, whether I'll be home or away for the holidays, because I love the way it looks and because I always have a Christmas party before I go. That works for me because I have an artificial tree, one I'm happy to leave up into January if necessary, but is a more complicated choice for those who have a real tree. One solution is illustrated above- andijl shared this photo of her "untree" with the Apartment Therapy DC Flickr group, a lovely tinsel tree created because holiday travel made her feel guilty about getting a real tree.

If you regularly travel for the holidays, do you still decorate your home? If you decorate, do you go all out or moderate your decorations based on your travel plans? Feel free to explain your answers in the comments below.
