There's no denying that Halloween decorations are fun and they seem to be taking the blogosphere by storm. That said, I didn't grow up in a house that decorated for the holiday, so I've always felt it to be a little silly — plus it leaves me more storage room for Christmas ornaments! Does your family decorate for the upcoming spooky holiday?
In the past, I've had many friends who decorated their homes with a Fall theme, instead of decking their halls with spiders, ghosts and goblins. Do you get your kids into the swing of spooky decor? There are so many options available it's hard not to, but sometimes the season can seem superfluous since there are so many "decorating holidays" back to back during the upcoming months.
Where do you stand? Does your family make it a tradition? Do you just carve pumpkins and call it good? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

A couple of pumpkins outside is all I ever manage to muster up. Growing up my dad made a huge deal out of decorating. We had a grave yard in the front complete with toppling tombstones and dry-ice fog.
YES! In fact, we struggled to not start putting it up before October 1st! I'd take a ghost or zombie for my front yard any day over wheat and gourd decorations. My husband always says looking at our house that if he were a kid again, our house would get him excited for Halloween, and I love that. We, as adults, have numbed Halloween in kids to the point it will never be as good as it was for us growing up, so sure I like to decorate and remind them some people out there still have fun with it. Subconsciously kids in our neighborhood are seeing tombstones and pumpkin lights and making a mental note that Halloween is coming and that's where to get good candy!
I just do fall decor. My boys are little and will go trick-or-treating for the first time this year. I don't want them to be afraid, and I personally don't like the front yard cemetery look.
HECK YEAH! We decorated for Halloween on Oct 1! This year we got a strand of vintagey looking orange lights and hung them around a window, with all our Halloween 'friends' figurines on the ledge underneath. We go for a more autumnal, old fashionedy Halloweeny look :)
I LOVE decorating for Halloween. I had fake tombstones and a fog machine long before I had kids, but now I can use them as an excuse. :) Usually I do some "scary" decor and some fall/autumnal, then take down the scary stuff November 1 and leave the rest up for Thanksgiving. And then Christmas stuff for December.
Halloween is my favorite season to decorate for. I put up a giant spider web under a tree in my front yard, use all sorts of different Halloween lights, skeletons, hands coming out of the flower garden... fun fun fun. On the short street I live on, there are 3 or 4 homes that go all out.
i'm kind of crazy...i love decorating for any holiday. my 2 year old and i painted a pumpkin patch (with linus, from peanuts) a couple of weeks ago and taped it into the front windows of our house. it turned out well, and it was fun and cheap to make. here are pictures (but we've added more pumpkins since this was taken): http://thecraftybandita.blogspot.com/2011/09/welcome-great-pumpkin.html
Uhh, yeah. The neighbors probably hate it, but the kids LOVE it! Like someone else said, we might scare small children. We do the super frightening zombie/bloody body part thing. Halloween has always been my favorite holiday.
Last year we had parents getting candy for their kids because they were too scared to come to the door! When we have our baby we might have to tone it down.
We always decorate for Halloween! The kids have been begging me to get our Halloween stuff out since school started. My son adores anything scary so we do a few "scary" things mixed in with the fun pumpkins and cutesy stuff that my daughter likes. We have a few houses around us that go all out (some even do full haunted houses to walk through on Halloween night) and my kids get SO excited when those decorations start to go up. "Scary" stuff is part of the fun!
We decorate for everything. I love making crafts with my daughter and hanging them up around the house. My parents always decorated when I was younger and I always have those flashbacks of being young and excited when I decorate with my daughter. I'm a stay at home mom, so I have plenty of time to do crafts with her. To me, those are the best decorations to have up.
