Labor Day Weekend is coming up and we're sure you're all geared up for weekend trips. I'm going to get on the road to crash at a friend's place in Nashville and I was thinking about getting my tech-loving buddy a hostess gift...
I'm deciding between gifting her one of infamously tiny and button-less iPod Shuffles or the new Wii Sports Resort game for her Nintendo Wii console.
Either way, it's a small price to pay for an extended stay on the sleeper sofa. The $79 iPod or $49 Wii game is a heck of a deal for a 4-night stay.
Do you leave gifts for your hosts? Would you ever consider a gift of technology for a techie friend? If so, what would you get them? Video games? A small gadget? A new DVD? Tell us in the comments!

it's not something that had ever even crossed my mind but it is genius. that's exactly the sort of hostess gift i'd love to get.
I'd be more of the type to give a game than a system. I mean, what if they already have an mp3 player? Game's more usable. Of course, there's the chance they have the game already, but it's less likely.
Still, I'd be a bit irked if most people gave me a tech gift. Non techies don't understand techie stuff, and even techies know that non-techie gifts work, too. [Not a host gift, but I got someone a bobblehead from a game they loved - specifically, Vault-Boy from Fallout 3.]
I think that maybe a kind that would work would be a netflix thing, or maybe something REALLY useful, like HDMI cables for someone who has an HDTV or 360 or something. Still, you really have to know the person's stuff...
I think that there is a lot of potential to not quite get it right (like giving a wine lover a bottle of vino) for their taste or situation. I think if you know them well it could be an amazingly treasured gift though. I know there are a few tech things that if someone gave me I'd love love love them and invite them back. One thing I have discovered though is being able to fix a tech thing (like getting a wireless router to work, or helping connect the tv in a better way, or what I need right now remote control issues) can be an amazing gift for a non-techie person. Making their house run smoother without clutter.
i would love to get a techie gift from a fello techie but not someone else. The other person hit it perfectly, others just don't get it.
I would go for the wii resort. They probably already have a mp3 player of some sort right? if they are a techie, they should. Heck there are 3 here... Wii resort was a lot of fun. I had heard bad reviews but my brother in law got it and i had a blast. Archery, disc golf, basketball, and the new bowling are my favorites.
