Q: Unplggd, I really need your advice. My boyfriend's birthday is in two weeks and I'm getting him a new sports game for the Wii. But since his best college buddy is coming in to town this week, should I give the gift early and let them enjoy it?
I already have a copy of soccer game FIFA 10 for Wii and a pair of Wii Classic Controllers hidden away in the closet. I know my boy and his buddy are both big on the game and would no doubt love to have a copy on hand to play, but part of me wants to give him his birthday present on his birthday.
I'm not the first one to be in this situation. A friend of mine bought an iPhone for her fiance for Christmas and presented it to him in October. She saw no reason to wait to gift it when he could be enjoying Words with Friends all season long.
Editor - So what do you think, Unplggd? Should she give the gift of gaming a little early or wait and present his birthday gift on his birthday? Let us know in the comments!

I'd give it to him early. But then I would also have something small and trivial that I could wrap and give on the day. It doesn't really matter what it is, it is just the ceremonial unwrapping makes me feel special.
Give it to him now, than rewrap it so he can open it on his birthday.
Give it to him early and then wrap yourself on the actual day!
Aw. I would. That would be sweet of you.
I'm a fan of immediate gratification.
I think it's sweet you're thinking of it early. Way to be a good girlfriend! And soniaz is right on the mark.
yes, give it to him--then it's two gifts: the game and the fun he'll have with his friend.
(i totally did this for valentine's, too--got my sweetie an induction burner but gave it to him early as he was standing in the kitchen trying to figure out how to keep fondue warm without a flame....)
also, what soniaz said. :-)
Short term yes, longer term on a case by case basis. in your situation yes. But as soniaz said, don't accidently wrap yourself first and wait on the wii game. My wifes birthday is near christmas and I accidentally missed tagged the two presents and well...
