Q: My boyfriend and I are moving into our first apartment together. The apartment is absolutely perfect, but we can't quite agree on a layout. His current apartment is configured similarly, and he's adamant about laying out the furniture so that the couch is against the wall, and the TV is angled out from the perpendicular wall.
I'm not as crazy about this layout because I have to fit my music studio in the corner, and don't feel like that configuration will give me enough space. Instead, I suggested putting the TV against the wall, flanked by bookshelves, with the couch floating in the middle.
doesn't like this layout because he feels like the flow of the room will be broken up by the couch, and the space won't feel as open.
We were both wondering if the readers had any better ideas? We have yet to buy the furniture, so keep that in mind.
The shorter side wall is 17.5 ft., and the longer wall is 21.5 ft.
