Over the years there have been certain things in our parents home that were handed down from grandparents, great grandparents and so forth. We always knew they would someday end up adorning our own shelves. What items do you hope to pass down to your own children and how do you convey the history behind them?

Our parents' home is filled with all sorts of reminders of the past: fishing lures, tools, Civil War memorabilia, timepieces such as clocks and watches and, more importantly to the mind of a young child, my Great Grandfather's marble collection which we often played with on rainy days indoors.

We grew up hearing stories of the items with history in our home and we'll share the same with our own children some day. Do you have collections you someday hope your children will cherish the same way you do and enjoy them? Tea sets? Trains? What's your collecting passion or what did your parents hand down to you? Share a little of your history in the comments below!
