Q: A few days back, you could have asked me where I was and I would have embarrassingly answered back with "Hiding in the corner of the thrift shop with a lamp, suspiciously eyeing any passersby." Because I found this, and I thought it was a treasure, and it was only $15. I could barely pick it up, it was so heavy. Since I've brought it home, I've been trying to find its origin, but there are no markings and I haven't found anything from searching by description. My best guess is that it's a medical lamp of sorts, judging by the ring around its head. The base is very heavy, and it's quite jointed as well. Any clue as to what it might be?

It's a modified reproduction of the Jielde lamp
Gorgeous! It has a vintage doctor's office appeal without looking scary
Definitely modified, but who knows - it may be an original. Jielde lamps are virtually indestructible! If it's a true Jielde, no amount of bending will ruin it because their lamps don't use a continuous wire, but instead use a series of discs to conduct the electricity through the elbows! Awesome find, real or repro!
No idea, but that's an awesome lamp. What a steal at $15!
it's most likely a reproduction like others suggested. about 8 months ago i started seeing these as a desk version anywhere from $200-$500. it was beyond a steal that you got it for $15! congratulations!
"Hiding in the corner of the thrift shop with a lamp, suspiciously eyeing any passersby."
Hehe! I've been there before! Great score!
awesome find
I have nearly the same lamp. It's from an OBGYN office that closed it's doors a few towns over.
I cant see clearly from the pictures how it is all assembled but it seems as though you could remove the vertical pole and reattach the armature to the base to bring it back to the way it was intended to be...
It looks like the Atelier Scissor lamp from Restoration Hardware.
FOUND IT -

I can't help but think of stirrups when I look at that lamp.
That lamp is from Restoration Hardware. I know...I have one in my living room that I ordered from them! And yes, it's super heavy.
You didn't get an antique or (thankfully?) an old lamp from a gynecologist's office, but you did get an excellent deal. Mine was close to $400 full price (though I got it at the Restoration Hardware outlet for less than half that price.)
Congrats, you got a great deal!
Nice find! Those are super expensive. It's obviously a new lamp.... look at the cord.
Whatever it is, and wherever it is from, it is awesome!
...and I was feeling lucky when I the price of gas fell $.04 as I was pulling into the station. Maybe I should head to the thrift store!
Z Gallery sells one in chrome as well, for something like $225
Nice find!
Congrats - what an awesome buy! (and at $15 to boot). Santa came early.
I like the lamp and agree it's a find, but pbsteele that is too funny. Maybe it's more of a guy lamp;)
$15 was a steal for a floor lamp! I paid $20 for one from Pottery Barn at a neighbor's garage sale. I hope you like yours as much as I like mine!
