While Google is charging $1,500 for Google Glass, TechInsights’ Teardown.com has estimated the parts only cost $79.78. A Google spokesman called Teardown.com’s cost estimate “absolutely wrong,” but didn't elaborate. Additional cost factors could include that the devices are manufactured in California, not Asia, and that the tiny high-res display could have been tricky and expensive to design and manufacture.
