Summer has finally reached San Francisco and everyone I know is ecstatic to partake in warm nights without the need for layers of clothing. A lovely hanging bench would be the perfect place to enjoy some late evening conversation.
Using an old IKEA bench, Sweet Paul simply cut off the legs, drilled holes and used some strong rope to attach this bench to a sturdy tree branch. It looks like the perfect place so spend an evening relaxing enjoying the last month of summer.

Sheex Bedding
Doh, what didn't I think of that! Be sure to support from underneath for extra safety.
won't it tip backwards? There is no way to sit back in it without it tipping
I am so so happy it is FINALLY summer here! I actually have to go unpack my summer clothes.
I need this bench in my life.
I imagine a couple of screw-eyes into the outside of the arms (to run the rope through) should fix the tipping problem, if there is one.
The Front cords should keep it from tipping backwards, and an little ordinary caution helps too.
Summer starts ("finally") in MAY in San Francisco?? You DO know you are spoiled, don't you??? (Here in NH the gardening rule is that it can still freeze until Memorial Day -- and often does.)
Warm summer nights in San Francisco? I can only assume you're referring to one of the South American San Franciscos, or that comment was made entirely in jest. Unless 54 is your idea of warm?
At least it's not made from an old 5-gallon plastic bucket.
So this is re-edited from a 2010 post, plus a week ago you posted an almost identical DIY for a hanging bed: http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/easy-diy-hanging-daybedhgtv-170580
