We were sitting at a business lunch today at 12:30 when the news arrived in a paper note to the publisher sitting with us (not Domino). There was a hush around the table - the sound of trees not falling.
We jumped on our iPhone to text the office, but our Janel in Chicago had just blogged it from WWD minutes before even Gawker got their hands on it. >> Full Post Here.

But not before New York Mag's Daily Intel posted. It was interesting to see when it all hit the web. News like this seems to spread like wildfire on most major blogs at about the same time. My data geek dream - mapping the course of news through the blogosphere.
I'm so appalled at this. First Blueprint, now Domino. Thank goodness for blogs- the other interiors publications completely miss the mark for me.
What other resources are there for a 20-something with a lot of creativity... but a tiny apartment and a slim pocketbook? I feel like magazines like Elle Decor are unrealistic and (I may get chewed out for saying this) snobbish.
Aw, darnit. Is there any word on how Conde Nast will handle Domino's subscription obligations?
This makes me sad. Is that it? No more?
Nooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!
Oh nooo!!!! I just got a subscription to it. *sob*

That's just it - frugal people are an undesirable advertising demographic. I've always wondered how Real Simple stays in business, frankly.
crap. crap.
Well I guess there is always ReadyMade magazine...although I wonder for how much longer. It's unfortunate that Budget Living is gone. I still miss it even though they have been gone for years.
Sad!

heartbreaking.
I'm absolutely heartbroken. I get a whole bunch of magazines each month, and this is the one I would keep if forced to whittle down. I'm going to go cry now.
Never thought that Domino was for 20 somethings, thought it was more for the female 36 year old. A 20 year is fresh out of collage and and buying from Ikea, not evan buying from the PB store.
What's next? West Elm? Apartment Therapy? My entire do-it-yourself design world is falling apart.
now is the time to buy domino's book for your library. maybe when better financial time return these titles will return or new ones will appear. don't forget house and garden folded twice in the past 20 or so years.
Damn it, I just renewed my subscription a couple months ago. I can't afford most of the stuff in it, but it's good eye candy. :(
the book will be in print as long as their is reasonable demand. simon & schuster will not get rid of it until/unless supply runs out and the demand shows that there's no point in printing more books.
it could be available for years depending on the current supply/continued demand.
I just picked up my mail a bit ago today. There was a letter from Domino that my subscription was up and they would charge my credit card $10.00 if I did not respond by 2/20. I called right way & said "cancel" since they were not in biz anymore. Their customer service person canceled it right away.
Boo hoo!
