This is a great room - in large part because of the veggie-dyed hemp rug (available from Classic Rug) anchoring the natural, simple overall look. This time last year (March '07), Domino profiled a few top picks for earth-friendly rugs, and since we're in the market, we thought some of you might be too. Other great suggestions welcome! More below:

Merida Meridian: "Jacquard Herringbone", $800 (sisal)

Classic Rug Collection: "Landhaus Primavesi", $5,400 (renewable alpaca and wool)

Tufenkian Carpets: "Inverness" ($1,425)
In arid Nepal, this specialist in Armenian and Tibetan carpets installed a purification plant to reuse water for dyeing rugs, like this all-wool Arts and Crafts design.

Those are nice... but not exactly wallet friendly >.>
The wool rugs are investment pieces: they will still be beautiful when you give them to your grandson for his first apartment.
