Lately I'm loving the color combo of yellow and grey. And what could be more perfect for a dorm room? Grey feels relaxing and grown-up, and yellow is energizing, for all that late-night studying. So here's one room, styled two different ways: One for when you're in college and on a tight budget, and another for post graduation (or many years post graduation) when you can afford to splurge.

College Room:
Yellow task lamp, $50
Monster print, $15
Yellow and grey cushion, $25
Butterfly chair, $18
Twin duvet and sham set, $30
Upgraded room:
Floor lamp, $119
Wing chair, $424
Chevron pillow cover, $38
Flor carpet tiles, 6 @ $12 = $72
Something wonderful print, $17

Howard Butcher Bloc...
That yellow and grey cushion in #1 is extremely popular this season. I've seen it so many times.
Loving the monster print! And the fact that for once, someone offers some "budget" ideas that are actually within my budget... Definitely getting that chair if I can find it in France.
fantastic post! i'm loving all the new topics AT is throwing out there lately =)
Ha, if frugality is key, I wouldn't be spending $25 on a pillow as a college student! Sh*t, I wouldn't spend that one a pillow now!
I always forget about Urban Outfitters and their home section. Great post, I agree with limiting choices by color if possible! That way you don't wind up with all kinds of unnecessary crap that doesn't match...like I did :S
@EebIsMe - I was thinking the same thing about the $25 pillow and the $50 student desk lamp.
