August on Apartment Therapy is all about Setting Up a New Home, and this one goes out to all those college students setting up a new home for the first time. Your dorm room is your first real chance to flex your interior design muscles, so why not let a little individual style shine through?

I. love. that. duvet!
This is so much more refreshing to see than the annoying bright pink, teal, and purple in the back-to-school adverts. Seems like those are the only colours you can get from big box stores for residence stuff.
I did something similar to this on my blog a bit ago! I challenged myself to pretend to be a newly-graduated student shopping for a dorm room, items were selected ONLY from Urban Outfitters clearance. I got all nostalgic for shopping for my first dorm room in 2005.
It was a pretty fun experiment! http://myfriendstaci.com/2012/06/07/dorm-room-decor/
Ha! I thought that pillowcase actually had 7 cents printed on it and actually thought it was kind of cool that way.
very nice!
I think AT should do a whole dorm contest. REAL dorms!
yeah , I'd like to see a dorm contest too - that'd be something!! AT would have to divide it by regions, types of schools and even faculties... Don't know fair it could be with say fine arts students in NYC ( generally speaking ) competing against physics students in Alaska...
But what do I know? maybe Physics majors do extremely well by their dorms in Alaska ...bring it on !!
nope the the alarm clock & the poster ...gotta have a digital clock and you could make your own poster , w/your own photo etc.
just be careful of those clip on lamps. I caught my bedroom on fire as a child when it fell of the headboard and got hot enough to ignite my pillow!
I'd love to see a small cool dorm contest, that'd be fabulous!
Love the dorm contest idea! And would be so fun to see ideas other than purple, pink and lime green like Finnlay128 mentioned.
What curtains would you pair with this room?
