In the past we've mentioned many times before that floor cushions are a great alternative for more permanent or sturdy furniture. They can tuck under tables or hide until they're needed for extra guests, but the idea of sitting 6 inches off the ground isn't always an inviting one for your company, especially if they just look like dog beds. This idea changes things up slightly and is a far more appealing option.

Floor pillows seem like a sophisticated version of a bean bag, and although they can be quite helpful and bring fabulous color to a space, when sitting on them you can still feel like the adult sitting at the kid's table during a holiday meal.

This combined look for a square, tufted pillow that's then layered with something of a different shape and texture is actually quite lovely. Even if your caboose sinks down through the first pillow completely, you still have a bit more height and it feels more appealing than telling your guests to go sit on the floor. Plus, it kind of makes you want to pile them all up and jump in them — or maybe that's just me.

Do you like the idea? Not sure if it's for you? Let us know in the comments below!
