While Kansas City sounds Midwestern enough to be full of gardens and fresh fare, the downtown area we call home is full of parking garages, a handful of Ginko trees and miles of concrete and asphalt. So on our morning walk, it was quite the surprise to come across this patch of gorilla gardening in front of an empty building.

Even though this small salad spring up wasn't found in a traditional front yard, we loved seeing it our more unconventional idea of our neighborhood and just a few feet from our doorstep. This building has been up for sale and uninhabited for the entire last year (and then some) and it was a fun surprise to round the corner and see the results of someone's hard work.

If you're looking to do a little guerilla gardening make sure to check out the resources below. It's a fun way to beautify eyesores in your neighborhood, be it with flowers or salad fixings!
