Before & After: Dr. Rabbit's IKEA Home Office Makeover

We've seen lots of before and afters here at Unplggd, from cable box magic tricks to disappearing desktops, but an entire home office done using 90% IKEA stuff? This, we've got to see...

First, Dr. Rabbit needed a new office in her New York apartment. What was once before was just screaming a much needed overhaul - a crowded mess of mix-matched furniture, old blinds, and a huge TV; everything had to go. After months of planning, she finally made a trip to her local IKEA and Lowes for wall paint. The result?

"Being I'm an Art Director by trade, I really wanted to go with an "Artsy" feel to the room. I also wanted to open up the sliding glass door more and have the whole thing be more airy..."

We guess an "amazing transformation" would be an understatement here. What she's done is simply wonderful, chic, and divine. It's hard to imagine anyone who would refuse working in that light, dreamy office. Heck, you'd have to pull us out of our seats once we got comfortable..

An exceptionally attractive transformation. I personally wouldn't be able to sit in that chair for 8 hours a day but beyond that, very well done.

I also think that director's chair could get uncomfortable afer a while. It looks great though! (Her dining room is also very nice)

A very different question: Where is the long, elipse dining table in the front of the picture from? I am looking for something like it for quite a while. Thanks!

personally i think an art director should have better taste.

Doesn't look very ergonomic. The chair is way too high (the keyboard ends up at knee level!)

Also, there's not much foot space under the desk because of the file cabinet thing.

It does look pretty though.

There might still be a few of those Gidea tables kicking around; according to the online inventory check there are 7 at my nearest store.

No. I way don't like it. Too dumb, plain and depressive. The previous one certainly required some change but not this life-hating thing. For god's sake, how could you imagine yourself work in there and not ending up at a doc's couch? The "desk corner" looked nice by itself but once I saw the whole room anything good vanished...

Sorry, but at first I mistook the "after" for the "before." I don't like this at all. Cluttered, mismatched, uninteresting, and uncomfortable. I guess it could be boasted that most things are from IKEA, but other than that, this redo doesn't have the appeal, artisitic touches, or class that most of the other house tours on this site.
