I've been using shoeboxes as drawer dividers for years. They work well for socks, underwear, stockings, etc.

I was *just* talking about getting some of these this morning after I spent way to long rooting around in my drawers! Thanks for all the great ideas, Sarah!!

Wow... I just have a drawer where the left half is socks and stockings, and the right half is underwear. The middle is bras.
It seems ineffiecent to use such shallow boxes. I like to cram them all the way to the top!

Then again, drawer organization isn't really high on my priority list. It's my boyfriend who makes sure his socks are properly paired in the drawer and his underpants are folded neatly.

PFFFT... whatever! I'm a free spirit when it comes to the 'unmentionables' drawer!

I bought linen box dividers from Ikea and use them in my top drawer. It's nice to have a separate place for socks/bras/undies.

However, I do not fold and arrange my socks like that because I like spending time outside away from my dresser.

Dress Socks go in one drawer, casual socks in another - no folding.
Undershirts go in one drawer - T shirts in another - slightly folded.
Briefs in one drawer - boxerbriefs in another - no folding.
Gymwear in one drawer, pajamas in another, sweaters in a third - slightly folded.

If you have lots of small drawers, you don't need partition thingies.

I used foamcore to construct dividers -- a vertical "fin" glued to a horizontal base. Not terribly eco-friendly, but they've been in use about 3 years now with no problems.

My drawer dividers don't look all that special, but they work, and they're nearly the same depth as the drawers -- I use empty tissue boxes. They're all the same size, and they're cheap, and they work.
