These photos from the Parisian Joyce Hotel reminded us of the man who decorated his walls using $10 worth of Sharpie markers. While the walls at the Joyce are a little more meticulously delineated than a white wall drawn in freehand, the concept is the same, and we love the way it looks in the hotel room context.
This is a great way to dress up a bland white box, and it works especially well if you're in need of a headboard but don't want to spend a lot. Although it's not for everyone, this style of decorating is an affordable approach for anyone who owns or is willing to do some serious repainting when it's time to move out of their rental.

Shaw's Original Fir...

i think it would look nice in pictures, but kind of lonely in person
above link provides much more interesting examples.
Well, I kind of think this is to die for.
I think it's interesting that both this post and the one linked to are qualified with the phrase "not for everyone." Is any good design "for everyone"? Personally, I think both the hotel and the home are awesome, but am generally less inspired by the heavily MCM-influenced home tours that are more common here, none of which come with caveats.
But I digress... Mostly, I'd just love to stay at this hotel!
I stayed at this hotel during my visit to Paris this past summer. The room and hotel common areas looked all the more lovely in person.
the first pict (with pink pillows) sold the idea. Sold! =)
This is kind of a random association, but these walls remind me very much of Disney's The Aristocats and 101 Dalmations (yes, the animated version). I would love to live in this cartoon!
I wonder if some guests have given in to the temptation to fill in some of the book titles in the "bookcase"!
this is wayyyy cooler than the guy who did this. Actually applied some creative design sense. I am without a doubt inspired!
