Anyone else a huge fan of retrofuturism? You know, modern, futuristic designs and ideas from our past; homes, fashion and home decor that looks simultaneously futuristic and retro (it's obviously aptly named). My dream home would basically be the set of 2001: A Space Odyssey meets The Jetsons. And to achieve a look like that, I wish I could shop for every item spotted on this Instagram account.
I heard about the popular Instagram account, @nightliquid_retro.inc on Reddit's rad site Upvoted. They featured the account in a short article that gives a bit more background to who's behind the posting of all these past tech items: This Instagram Account Dedicated to Rare Retro Electronics is a Nostalgia Wonderland.
Founded in Milan in 1945, Brionvega specialized in manufacturing TV sets. This little portable, plastic-cased TV (released in 1964) is shaped so that its screen tilts upwards slightly. The front of it is just the screen — no knobs, buttons or speakers or any kind of surround whatsoever. All the incidental stuff is mounted on the top or sides. A telescopic aerial sprouts from near the front, rather than the back as is more normal, while a hinged metal carrying handle is cranked to fit snugly into the bend at the top of the box.
If you're a fan of retrofuturism and old electronics, you might enjoy scrolling through this feed or even find pattern, color or DIY art inspiration from one of the shots. And while you can't actually shop from this Instagram feed (why it's labeled as a dream decor resource in this post's headline), the person who mans the feed provides comprehensive captions full of information of what the object is (sometimes even mentioning how much similar models are priced at on eBay). In theory, if you fall hard enough in love with something you see, you could take the info on a hunt for a similar object to complete your retrofuture dream home.
