The condofication of Williamsburg, Brooklyn is a topic about which the pros and cons have been debated for years at this point. So instead of arguing about it, let's just applaud one such project that has chosen a tasteful reference to historical neighborhood architecture rather than erecting a faceless glass tower.

174 Jackson Street in Williamsburg was built by Grand Street Development (of the famous Mason Fisk conversion a few years back) as modern living spaces with many references to the loft buildings that can be found nearby. The brick facade is an elegant choice that carries through to some interior walls with design by the acclaimed Meshberg Group. All of the finishes have a time-worn elegance that suits the desired character of the building, but they still have a warm modern edge that will work with many styles of decor.

What are your thoughts on this newest introduction to the saturated Williamsburg condo market?

Shaw's Original Fir...
I like it. So many of the new buildings stick out like sore thumbs because they brought multi-story glass and steel into Williamsburg, which is typically (siding-covered) brick and 3-4 stories. The new buildings are extremely noticeable and seem towering and boisterous. This one seems like it's at least brick and has some nice detail on the outside. I'll take that over glass and steel anyday.
Very tastefully done! What's not to like about this living space... Inside AND out?
it's very nice. however if you look at the buildings next door and on street view, isn't this building the one sticking out like a sore thumb.
I have a friend who lives on Jackson, and every time I visit and walk by this building (and another condo around the corner) I cringe. The neighborhood isn't exactly known for grand architecture (hello vinyl siding!), but the scale of the new buildings and in many cases their tendency towards tackiness makes them stand out in a not-good way.
I like it. I think it looks classic and timeless. It sticks out a little but not in a bad way in my opinion.
That map is soooo beautiful!
Wow this is so awesome! An incredible place both inside and out. I was just trying to check out some real estate listings in kelowna and I stumbled across this. Hopefully I'll be able to find something like this in my price range!
