In real life, cdi9c goes by Catherine and can be found writing the delicious blog, B-School Studio, which she fills with inspiring sewing projects and clever quips.
Wanting to give a new look to a functional but lackluster brushed nickel bed, Catherine scored some discount outdoor fabric, and went about sewing what she describes as basically "a giant bag that you just size to fit your headboard." She used extra fabric to sew curtains that extend to the wall on either side of the bed— visually extending the headboard and providing extra storage. Double, double the genius.
Catherine's easy awesome bed frame redo was part of her guest room redo, which you can see more of over at B-School Studio.
And in case you missed the other easy options for doing up an old metal bed, you can check them out here.

Shaw's Original Fir...
This is very clever!
I have to say, the design and innovation aside, the dog steals the show.
Just TOO cute.
Love the look. I don't care for metal beds so this is a great idea.

brilliant.
This is clever, but why the sudden hate for metal bed frames? If you don't like your metal bed frame, sell it on Craigslist and get/make something you like.
um, wow.
I love this. Great idea. Personally, I would have kept the curtains taught. I think it would look stunning and have much more impact that way.
Am I the only one that thinks that the bed would look better if you just took away all the fabric?
(or the only one who can't tell if bepsf is being sarcastic?)
I like the look of the fabric, but it's a little fussy for me. I'd either just get a different bed frame or spray paint this one red or white.
That adorable doggie looks great in any decor. :)
I would not call this a Metal Bed Frame- this as an actual bed. I consider a Metal Bed frame to be what comes free with your mattress. I agree with creativeneurosis: I actually like this person's original metal bed better than he green stripes. It looks like a circus in there.

@creativeneurosis - You're not the only one. (You're not the only one.)
If "crafty" has a dark side, this is it.
Actually, I'm rethinking my comment. I shouldn't be so critical. Maybe just removing one layer of stripes would help. Less might be more in this situation.
Dog Photobomb!
Awesome way to create storage space! Even if one didn't want to cover the head board and foot board, the curtain would look great running the entire length behind the bed.
yuk!
I much prefer the metal. I think it's the stripes.
I prefer the metal bed. With the upholstered look, but not really upholstered, I am thinking someone might whack their head thinking they were leaning back onto something cushioned.
I love this! I especially like the gathered curtains next to the smooth headboard -- the variation in texture looks great!
