The Philadelphia Art Museum and the cheesesteak sandwich (that unbeatable work of culinary genius) aren't the only two fabulous things to come from the City of Brotherly Love. We've recently come across modern furniture from Iannone Design—and while it doesn't necessarily spark the same excitement as, say, the age-old Pat's/Gino's cheesesteak debate, surely it deserves some stage time, too.
Founder Michael Iannone brings his studio art background to the firm he founded more than six years ago, creating innovative furniture that places sustainability at the forefront. The collection incorporates a variety of eco-friendly materials such as FSC and formaldehyde-free plywoods, locally sourced lumber from managed forests, bamboo and sorghum board. Each is finished with either a low-VOC water-based top coat or all-natural hand-applied oil/wax substance.
Shown above are two of Iannone's newest offerings, released this year: the Trees Graphic Dresser (tall) and the Trees Graphic Nightstand, each made of FSC-certified plywood, Kirei (an environmentally responsible wood substitute), and a tree-and-robin graphic cut from white-gloss laminate. Iannone, who also works as a luthier, crafting solid-body electric guitars, is available for custom furniture commissions. Music to our ears! Visit the website for more information.
