In a similar spirit of the Pool Barge, the folks at Macro Sea are creating swimming pools from dumpsters with a plan to reclaim urban spaces for some summer splash time. Their first pool lives in Brooklyn...
Why? Because it's cool! Jocko Weyland and Macro Sea have plans to reclaim abandoned strip malls across the country and turn them into dumpster pools.
Would you welcome a dumpster pool to your neighborhood? Lots of fun renderings on the Macro Sea site.

Love, love, LOVE this... such a great idea for the environment AND urban dwellers. A win/win!!
This is a wonderful Idea. Now just to make it a wee wider by welding two dumpsters together making hollow the middle walls.
neat
always thought dumpsters were the perfect size for a small pool. any idea if this will be available for private use?
What? no "dumpster diving" comments yet?
That's really freakin' awesome!
I love this more than words can say...and want one in my yard more than you know. Fabulous!
Add me to the list of "wants one!"

Talk about upcycling- sheer genius!! Love it!
I like the possibilities it suggests for multi-level pools. Kids would love being able to leap from one pool to the next.
Bring em to Denver! It'll be in mid-90's here tomorrow - and mid-90's at this altitude just plain hurts.
Does anyone know if you could do this inground?
What an incredible idea! Where the pool pump end up?
