We were tipped off this weekend that there is an archive of Dwell back issues online at Google Books. Starting in 2000 and currently concluding with the December 2008 issue, this is an excellent resource of the design mags history and content....
...over the last decade.
While we aren't huge fans of reading print magazines online, we have to say that the Google Books interface isn't bad, is not too sluggish and clearly, the price is right (free!).
Plus the fact that you can "search" by magazine means that finding something that you remember seeing in Dwell somewhere or are hoping to find for the first time is MUCH easier than flipping through all the hard copies.
Really, the only question that remains - what to do with the 3 feet of bookshelf space that this just opened up?

Yay!
Another good reason to put those old magazines out for recycling!
bepsf and janel, exactly what i was thinking. and great timing too, since i've been clearing out my magazine collection (hoarde!) in the last few weeks. way to go dwell and google books.
I am so excited! Now if I can only waterproof my computer so I can read while in the tub!
My exact thoughts Icanmakeit. I love magazines and always will, especially in the tub.
no! don't throw them out! there are plenty people who would like them! (like me ;D) i treat my magazines like books and if ever i don't want any anymore i donate them. please craiglist or freecycle or something because it would make someone really really happy, i know it does me when i stumble upon a missing issue at a thrift store.
[sounding like a twerp]: why didn't domino do this? whyyyy? xo

a vindicated twerp: www.lonnymag.com
