New At Target: DwellStudio and Fisher-Price Team Up

DwellStudio has teamed with Fisher-Price to debut a small collection at Target. It's an unlikely partnership between a veteran maker of baby gear and the new face of nursery textiles, but it's one that makes sense.

The line features a teal, brown and white color combination and includes a bouncy seat, a swing with an MP3 docking station and a highchair. Several Ohdeedoh readers wrote in to tell us about this new Fisher-Price/DwellStudio set. If anyone has seen any of the pieces at the store, let us know if they look good in person.

oh wow, I REALLY like that! That would have looked much nicer in my family room than the bright blue swing and bouncer. Lovely!

oh yeah NOW they come out with that. ha. guess i'll just have to have another kid. hmm.

oh i love this and i have been shopping for these things and they are either insanely wonderful and wickedly overpriced, or cheap and ugly! I'm pregnant, this is just in time for me!

I saw the new bedding lines and blankets at my target. birds and elephants--very cute and in lovely colors.

Finally! looks like Fischer price is starting to get the hint that not all parents want tacky, noisy, brightly lit up junk.

sometimes it's not about what the parents want...babies actually like tacky, noisy brightly lit up junk. that's why FISHER price makes it. not because it fits into some midwestern bourgeoise aesthetic.

That is the least offensive swing I have seen yet. Thank god. I'm immediately taking the one with the silly sheep's ears off my registry. : )

saltyc, babies like almost anything you'll let them get their hands on - they're just more inclusive than we are in their taste, which is why people like to take advantage of that flexibility and get things that they AND their babies will like. There are ways to do bright, shiny, and colorful without it looking garish.

I was doing the baby registry thing this past weekend and I saw those in the book they gave me target and some of the new dwellstudio bedding pieces in the actual store.

I like the new bedding more than the old--the elephants and birds are adorable. however, I think the regular elephants and birds patterns are nicer than the "multi" elephants and birds. I wish they had used the regular pattern as the base pattern for the collections and the multi as the accent instead of the other way around.

WHERE WERE YOU when the Aquarium bouncer and Rainforest jumper were blinding me on a daily basis?

Those are a lot better-looking than what Fisher Price has offered in the past. It seems to be true of most mid- to low-priced brands that they don't quite get on board with the current "bourgeois aesthetic" until a moment or so too late. But then we bourgeoisie love the old FP stuff from our childhoods, so maybe our kids will get super excited when they run across a Rainforest bouncer 20 years from now. "My baby sister had one Just Like This!" (let us hope not.)

BTW I refuse to buy an Exersaucer or Rainforest jumperoo mainly because I think they're hideous ( lack of space)--but seriously, babies love them! It's tempting.

My 2-year-old had the same swing in a different fabric and I couldn't stand looking at it so I sold it and got a new one...and I'm so much happier every time I use it. Sometimes it's worth it to put your own aesthetic up there with your baby's need for stimulation or whatever.

In the end, putting away all that baby stuff as the baby grows is the best feeling. It really ends up feeling like clutter, no matter how sleek the lines.
