I'm always looking for a great project that involves a doily and this one is up there with some of my past favorites. This simple decoupage-like technique allows you to apply doilies anywhere. And when they're not bright white, they add texture more than they do a taste of the 1970's.
This doily was found over at Crafty Nest where it was coated in white glue. It was then transferred to this small wooden box using freezer paper and allowed to dry. Then the entire unit was painted.
Usually when you think of doilies, they seem old and frumpy, even when you have the best of intentions, but this time around they merely provide texture and color. You could cover an old camping chest, or even a bench and just give it a little something special. Check out the full tutorial, plus see what's hiding inside, over at Crafty Nest.
