Dyson, maker of premium vacuums, hand dryers, fans, and the like, is expanding into a new category: beauty. The British company is launching its first hair dryer this fall.
The Dyson Supersonic doesn't look like any hairdryer you've held before; the small motor is in the handle, so it doesn't need a long barrel to balance it out. This makes the Supersonic lighter and easier to hold. It also uses magnets to hold attachments on, so no more loose diffusers falling off mid-dry.
The Supersonic has four heat settings, three airflow options, and a cool shot, and Dyson says it stabilizes temperature to prevent getting too hot and damaging hair.
The Rolls Royce of hair dryers debuts in September at Sephora and Dyson.com and will retail for $399.
