Photos of the home and garden of Ilse Ackerman and Meeno Peluce first came to my attention back in 2008 when a caption called-out that we lived in the same Los Angeles neighborhood of Lincoln Heights. The DIY aesthetic that originally caught my eye has been brought back into focus with this creative and colorful lounge and firepit project.
Dubbed Skyfarm, this formerly condemned property now bursts with life and color. Ilse Ackerman built the lounge and firepit after being inspired by Mark Frauenfelder's do-it-yourself book, "Made by Hand: Searching for Meaning in a Throwaway World." It took her three months to fill the earthbags that she bought from The California Institute of Earth Art and Architecture.
